Policies & preparation
Everything you need to know before your appointment, in four short sections.
Policies
Cancellation fees
Any deposit already paid is deducted from the applicable cancellation fee. Payment collection and any use of stored payment details follow the agreed booking terms and applicable law. If Cee.Lux Studio needs to cancel, you will be offered rescheduling or a refund in line with applicable requirements.
Appointments
- Cee.Lux Studio operates by appointment only. Walk-ins are not accepted.
- Arrive prepared for your selected service and allow enough time for your appointment.
- Emergency appointments may be considered on request, subject to availability, and may cost extra.
Deposits and payments
- A deposit is required to secure an appointment.
- The deposit is 25% of the standard price of your service and is deducted from the total.
- Deposits are non-refundable, subject to applicable consumer rights and legal requirements.
- The remaining balance is payable in cash on the day.
- Please bring the correct balance where possible. Change of up to £5 may be returned by bank transfer.
Late arrivals
- A 15-minute grace period is provided.
- After the first 15 minutes, a £5 late fee applies for every additional five minutes.
- The maximum waiting time is 30 minutes. Later arrivals may result in cancellation and the appointment being treated as a no-show.
- Please contact Cee.Lux Studio as soon as possible if you expect to be late.
Guests
- One guest is permitted, provided advance notice is given.
- Guests must stay in the designated area and respect the privacy of the accommodation.
- Guests must not explore other areas of the property.
- If a guest leaves during the appointment, they should arrange their own plans and return as agreed.
Extensions & wig quality
The hair requirements for braids, twists, locs and wig services.
Extension hair
- Extension hair for braided styles must be pre-pulled before the appointment.
- If you need Cee.Lux to pull hair that is not already pulled, select the Hair Preparation add-on. Extra appointment time may be needed.
- You are responsible for buying the correct type, colour, length and quantity of hair for your style, and enough of it to finish the style.
- Hair quality, texture and colour can affect the final result.

Wig requirements
- Wigs should be clean, detangled and ready for the selected service.
- Human-hair wigs with HD lace are recommended for a seamless finish.
- Transparent lace may be accepted, but the final appearance can differ. Thick or stiff lace may not give the same seamless result, and suitability can be discussed before the appointment.
- Please say if your wig is synthetic. Not all synthetic wigs are suitable for heat styling.
- Discuss any customisation in advance.
- Wig reinstallations may need a consultation, and you may be asked to send photos or videos beforehand.
Added curls
- Buy bundles with a curl pattern that matches the result you want.
- Hair must suit the intended styling method, including heat styling where needed.
- The final result and how long it lasts depend on the quality and texture of the hair and how it is looked after.
Natural hair preparation
Please make sure your natural hair is properly prepared before you arrive.
Wash & dry
Hair should be clean and fully dry before your appointment, unless your chosen service says otherwise.
Detangling
Arrive with your hair thoroughly detangled and free from excessive product build-up.
Previous styles & product residue
Hair should be free from old parts, residue and build-up. Please avoid oils, grease, creams or other products before your appointment. You are welcome to bring your preferred oil or leave-in product, which can be applied during your appointment if it suits your chosen style.
Hair condition & allergies
Tell Cee.Lux Studio beforehand about anything that could affect your chosen style, including scalp sensitivity or allergies to particular products.
What to arrive with
Your natural hair should be prepared for your booked service. For example, if you have booked a frontal installation without the Underwig Cornrows add-on, please arrive with your natural hair in a minimum of eight cornrows.
Come prepared
Bring everything you need for your appointment, including the correct payment method, to avoid delays.
Facilities & accessibility
- Toilet facilities are available.
- Wi-Fi is available.
- There is no dedicated parking at either appointment location.
- You may bring your own food and snacks. Where possible, arrange or bring food before your appointment to avoid interruptions or delays.
- Please check public transport options for the relevant location.

Can I change my hairstyle after booking?
Please contact Cee.Lux Studio as soon as possible. Changes may be approved if the new style needs a similar appointment duration and availability allows. There is no style-change fee for an approved change that takes a similar amount of time.
Once the appointment has started, style changes are not permitted, except for removing an add-on where appropriate.
How long will my appointment take?
Estimated durations are given in the service descriptions. They are guides, not guarantees, as timing depends on the style, your hair preparation and your individual needs. Appointments may finish earlier or run longer than expected, so please allow extra time.
How long will my hairstyle last?
These are general estimates, not guarantees:
- Braids, including styles with added curls: 3 weeks or longer
- Natural-hair twists: about 2–3 weeks
- Cornrows, with or without extensions: 2 weeks or longer
- Wig installations: 2 weeks or longer
- Slick styles: about 1 week or longer
- Loc retwists and styled retwists: 3 weeks or longer
Longevity varies with hair type, lifestyle, maintenance and how the style is cared for.
How do I maintain my hairstyle?
Braids
- Protect your style at night with a silk scarf or bonnet.
- Apply scalp oil about 2–3 times a week, adjusting to your scalp’s needs.
- For braids with added curls, loosely twist or secure the curls before sleeping.
- Avoid heavy products on curls. If tangling occurs, use a light spray and conditioner sparingly.
Wigs
- Wrap your hair with a silk scarf and bonnet at night.
- White barber tape may be used where suitable.
- Avoid heavy products on the lace, and avoid sleeping in a melt band.
- Remove your scarf and any tape in the morning so the lace and scalp can breathe.
Locs
- Wear a durag or loc cap at night.
- Use a light sheen spray where appropriate.
- Avoid excess product build-up and unnecessary manipulation.
Slick styles
- Use a silk scarf and bonnet to protect the style.
- Keep moisture, friction and unnecessary product to a minimum.
What if my hairstyle becomes loose or starts coming undone?
Please contact Cee.Lux Studio before trying to fix it yourself. Depending on the style and its condition, a refresh or maintenance appointment may be recommended.

Cee.Lux Studio works from Nottingham during university term time and Reading during university holidays. Clients are told about location changes two to three weeks in advance wherever possible.
